Neurofeedback for Trauma
Emotional and Childhood traumas negatively impact brain function causing reactivity, poor attention, sleep problems and other anxiety, mood and processing issues. Neurofeedback addresses these fear-based brain and nervous system dysfunctions by improving the brain’s ability to self-regulate. The internationally renowned trauma expert and author of “The Body Keeps the Score”, Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk, strongly recommends neurofeedback for the treatment of trauma.
We offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting to help clients heal from emotional traumas. EMDR is a well researched form of psychotherapy that alleviates the distress associated with traumatic memories. It involves focusing on the memories while engaging in side to side eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation.
Brainspotting (BSP) therapy locates points in the client’s visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. This use of relevant eye positions helps the client locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotional and body based traumas. Clients experience significant benefit with an average of 6-8 sessions.
